Field of Research Interest

In line with its goals, which are to comprehensively understand Iran's desert regions from a natural, human, social, and environmental perspective and to raise the level of scientific research in this field in order to promote sustainable development of desert regions and improve people's living conditions, this center, in collaboration with its faculty members, has initiated extensive research projects in related fields for many years, which fall within the framework of the following research axes:

1- Investigating the characteristics and potentials of desert and semi-desert areas of the country
2- Investigating the factors affecting desertification and determining desertification criteria and indicators at the macro level of the country
3- Modeling critical desert areas in the country
4- Priorities and strategies for combating desertification
5- Investigating and studying surface and underground water resources
6- Identifying plant varieties adapted or resistant to desert conditions
7- Investigating the conditions and trends of drought in the country
8- Investigating the capabilities and potentials of ecotourism in desert areas
9- Investigating the ecological and ecophysiological characteristics of native plants of desert areas
10- Investigating and identifying the soils of desert areas and their potential
11- Investigating the potential of areas susceptible to the use of new energies
