History
The International Desert Research Center was initially established as the Desert Research Center in 1975 as an independent unit at the University of Tehran in order to comprehensively understand the desert regions of Iran in terms of natural, human, social and environmental issues, as well as to raise the level of research and science in the country in order to develop desert regions and improve the living conditions of the people of these regions.
Based on the resolution of the Council of the University of Tehran, this center has been renamed as the "International Desert Coexistence Research Center" since 2006 and as the "International Desert Research Center" since 2009.
